"Colorful Facts"

Hundreds of years ago, the Indians of Mexico built large cities, developed a calendar, invented a counting system, and used a form of writing.

Location: Mexico is bordered by the United Ssates on the north and by Guatemala nad Belize on the southeast.

Capital: Mexico City

Offical Language: Spanish, however about 7 percent of Mexicans use Nahuatl, Maya, Zapotec, or some other American Indian Language.

Geography: Towering mountains and high, rolling plateaus cover more than two-thirds of Mexico.

Population: 111,211,789 (Estimated 2010)

Foods: Tortillas, tacos, enchiladas, frijoles (refried beans), tostadas, atoles, and tamales are popular dishes.
